Bill Keller, the executive editor who rebuilt the confidence of The New York Times‘s newsroom after the Jayson Blair scandal, is stepping down after eight years in the job. He’ll be succeeded by managing editor Jill Abramson, a former chief of the Washington bureau and veteran of The Wall Street Journal. Dean Baquet, an assistant managing editor and the current chief of the Washington bureau, has been promoted to managing editor to replace Abramson.
